Pictures, mirrors and lamps
Pictures, mirrors and lamps need to be packed. If moving locally, it might be easier and more cost effective, to move some of these yourself.
Tag your Items
Pack one room at a time, labeling each box with a description of its contents and its destination (e.g., kitchen, bathroom). Be as specific as you can; it will make unpacking that much easier.
Seal boxes
When packing your own boxes the tops and bottoms must be sealed. We will not move it if it is not sealed.
Pack Heavy – Pack Light
Pack heavy items in small boxes and lighter items in larger boxes.
Remove keys
Remove all keys from file cabinets, fire vaults, lock boxes, china cabinets, desks, gun cabinets, tool boxes, grandfather clocks, curio cabinets. We are not responsible for misplacement of keys.
Leave dresser drawers full
You can leave all your dresser drawers full (except antiques and particle board). Please remove all breakable and spill able items.
Protect Your Memories
If it’s irreplaceable, take it with you in the car. If you do decide to pack framed photos or art, place sheets or blankets between them for added protection.
Use trash bags
You can save money on packing material by putting all linens, pillows, towels, sheets, comforters, etc into large heavy duty trash bags. DO NOT PUT BREAKABLES IN TRASHBAGS
Disassemble and Reassemble items
We can disassemble and reassemble your beds, mirrors from dressers, desks, china cabinets etc. Or you can do this to save time. If you disassemble any furniture, including beds, put hardware in a safe place for reassembly.
File cabinets and desks
All lateral file cabinets and desk drawers need to be emptied prior to moving. (Standard file cabinets can stay full).
Remove Lamp Bulbs
Remove bulbs before packing your lamps. Keep items not going on the truck separate If there are items you don’t want us to move or pack, please keep these separate from the items we are packing and moving.
Bare Necessities
Toilet paper, telephone, toiletries, snacks, coffee (and pot), soap, flashlight, screwdriver, pliers, can opener, paper plates, cups, utensils, a couple of pans, and paper towels are some of the essentials you may need upon arrival at your new home. Pack a box with these types of items and ask your manager to load it last so that it will be unloaded first.
Get the Bed Ready
Designate one drawer of a dresser for sheets and towels so that you won’t have to rummage through boxes for these essentials the first night in your new home.
Give out your Number
Before the movers leave for your destination residence, make sure they have a phone number where you can be reached. It is also a good idea to provide him with an alternate contact in case you can’t be reached.
We have moving boxes
We have moving boxes for you to purchase if needed
Wardrobe Boxes
Wardrobe boxes are the most expensive box. We always have a few on the trucks for you to “use” as long as they are unloaded and returned before your movers leave that day. No need to purchase them unless you need to keep them to store.
